Sean McClarron

Sean is the Executive Chairman of McClarrons Insurance Brokers.

McClarrons is an independent insurance broker, founded in 1988 by Sean’s father, Roy McClarron. The business was formally handed over to Sean in 1994 and he went on to broaden its services and branch out geographically; by the end of the ‘90s, the company was serving clients across the North of England. Growing demand encouraged the expansion of McClarrons to cover different fields of expertise including personal and commercial insurance.

In 2008 McClarrons acquired Malton-based broker, Seeking’s and Wardle; from here, it began to further develop its focus on niche sectors, including McClarrons Affinity (Art and Private Clients), Care and Social Welfare, Rural (Farm and Equine), Commercial and Property Owners.

Sean has remained focused on building a business that is client centric and that offers truly specialist advice; with further acquisitions, book purchases and the setting up of specialist ARs in the marine, motor and sport sectors, the business has expanded well beyond the local rural brokerage it started out as.

In 2015, with, at the time, his 25 years' experience, Sean identified a significant gap in protection for agricultural and rural businesses, which led to the formation of a specialist, award-winning management liability policy - Rural Protect. Due to its success, Sean established HB Underwriting, a business that works with brokers nationwide.

Sean’s values are capsulated within his businesses and with the third generation of the McClarron family now working within company, it remains an independent family business. McClarrons’ values and vision have created strong connections between team members and has resulted in an innovative and productive outlook for the company.

In 2022, McClarrons opened an office in Hessle; an area of Sean’s origin and childhood memories. Opening an office in Hull was not only a considered business decision, but also a very personal one. Passionate about Hull and the businesses within it, its vibrancy and ongoing potential, McClarrons are excited to work alongside local partners and be a part of Hull’s ongoing business development.

As Executive Chairman of McClarrons and maintaining his Directorship at HB Underwriting, Sean also still looks after a number of McClarrons' longstanding agricultural clients, an industry that remains close to his heart. He is a permanent reminder that hard work and great client service can get you a very long way and inspires his team to maintain this approach throughout their work.
