Matt Connellan

Matthew is one half of Revival by Design, a boutique Interior Design studio based in Howden specialising in end-to-end projects for residential clients all over Yorkshire and moving into London. Having worked in high end restaurant and office fitout all of his working life, Matthew combines his skills in Quantity Surveying and Project Management with the design talent of his wife Hannah, to offer a complete design and fitout service.

Based in West Yorkshire up to 2009, working as the sole in-house Quantity Surveyor for a restaurant and bar chain, Matthew was responsible for the financial management of a roll out of restaurants across the UK and into Northern Ireland. When the financial crises hit the roll out came to a grinding halt and Hannah decided that travelling Australia might be a good idea – so they packed up and left, travelling the top end of Australia for 6 months. They settled in Perth and stayed for 9 years – in that time Matthew progressed to upper management in a large fitout company, responsible for 50 staff and a turnover of $45m, and Hannah opened her first Interior Design showroom. When they decided to come back to the UK in 2018, they quickly decided to bring their two skillsets together and start Revival by Design, which has been working with clients all over Yorkshire ever since.

Matthew manages the business, looks after budget for client projects and manages the projects end to end, leaving Hannah to focus on the designs. The focus for 2024/25 is to grow the business across Yorkshire and to offer our services into London, growing our employee count to enable us to take on bigger projects, perhaps also expanding into commercial work, building on Matthews background with Restaurant, Bar, Hotel and Office fitouts.

As well as end to end projects, Revival by Design offers bespoke soft furnishings (made to measure curtains and blinds, sofas and chairs) and architectural interior design (kitchens and bathrooms, layout changes, space planning and the like).
