Lucy Stock is the Founder and Director of Pie Lady Ltd and The Pie Lady’s Farm Shop Ltd, a growing Yorkshire food business built around traditional handmade pies, exceptional customer experiences and a genuine passion for supporting local communities.

Although Pie Lady officially became a business in October 2024, Lucy’s journey began in 2020. At the time, she was running a seasonal café, working hard throughout the summer before closing for the winter months.

During one winter, Lucy found herself searching for a really good pie. After visiting butchers, farm shops and other local food businesses, she realised she could not find the kind of pie she wanted — one where the filling was the hero and the pastry complemented it rather than overpowering it.

So, she went home and made her own.

What started as pies for family and friends quickly became something much bigger. Lucy began making them for customers when the café reopened, demand continued to grow and, over time, the original idea developed into the Pie Lady brand.

Today, Lucy is growing both the retail and manufacturing sides of the business. The Pie Lady’s Farm Shop offers customers handmade pies, deli products, the 'Famous Pie-Bar' and a warm, personal shopping experience, while Pie Lady Ltd is developing a dedicated production facility to support future wholesale growth.

Lucy is incredibly proud of the journey so far. Her biggest achievement is not one single milestone, but the fact that she has created a recognisable brand and built a business with genuine potential. Securing the factory, developing the products and seeing the vision gradually become a reality have all been major moments for her.

Her team describe her as resilient, determined and fierce — qualities that have become a driving force behind the business. Lucy approaches challenges with the belief that success is not about avoiding setbacks, but about how you respond to them. She is fiercely committed to her vision and is always looking for the next solution, opportunity or lesson.

For Lucy, business is ultimately about people.

She believes that success should not be measured solely by turnover or growth, but by the difference a business makes to its customers, its team and the wider community. The best businesses do not simply sell products — they create experiences, build relationships and leave people feeling better than when they arrived.

That belief is central to the way Lucy wants the Pie Lady brand to grow. She wants customers to feel welcomed, appreciated and cared for, and she wants her team to feel valued, supported and proud to be part of the business.

Her long-term vision is to establish Pie Lady as one of Yorkshire’s best-loved food brands. Over the next five years, she plans to create a string of Pie Lady’s Farm Shops, each featuring the signature Pie Bar experience, alongside a thriving manufacturing business supplying farm shops, delis and retailers across the region.

Her ambition is for Pie Lady pies to become a recognised staple throughout Yorkshire — a brand people know, trust and are excited to see on the shelves.

Away from work, Lucy is happiest outdoors. She loves spending time in her campervan, exploring the countryside, enjoying nature and wildlife and creating memories with her three children. She values time away from screens and technology and enjoys the simplicity of being outdoors, reading a good book and spending quality time with the people who matter most.

As a member of For Entrepreneurs Only, Lucy values the opportunity to connect with other business owners, learn from shared experiences and surround herself with people who challenge and inspire her. She is particularly interested in connecting with members who have experience in food manufacturing, retail, wholesale growth, leadership, marketing and business systems.

She is equally passionate about sharing her own journey honestly and supporting other entrepreneurs wherever she can.
