Anna Buckley

Anna Buckley is the Co-Founder and Owner of Mindful Memorials Ltd, a trailblazing memorial company that combines traditional heritage skills with cutting-edge digital technology. Since setting up the business in 2023 and acquiring J. Rotherham Memorials, operating from seven retail showrooms including G. H Wriglesworths in Hull, Mindful Memorials is leading the way with a truly innovative approach to memorial making. The company introduces unique ranges, shapes, and designs, using 3D digital rendering to showcase ideas to clients, and is working with Made Smarter UK and Hull University on exciting new ideas to help shape the future of the industry. In 2024, Mindful Memorials won the York Press Business Innovation Award, recognising its continued success and forward-thinking vision.

Anna's mission is to support the bereaved by creating bespoke memorials that not only honour the deceased but also bring healing to those who remain. Drawing on her previous experience in holistic health, Anna brings a compassionate, mindful approach to the death and dying industry, ensuring that every aspect of her work reflects care, respect, and healing.

In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Anna is a passionate advocate for artisan education and heritage skills. She supports Wild Earth Education by providing space at The Masons Yard promoting creative and practical skills for young people, while the business also trains apprentices in memorial carving, letter cutting, installation and digital design.

After being diagnosed with a serious illness in 2011, Anna made the decision to step back from business for a few years to home educate her two sons, a journey that reinforced her commitment to alternative education and holistic well-being. She trained as a yoga teacher and meditation facilitator and also founded The Owl House and Nest, a community group offering a range of educational and wellness activities, and remains dedicated to supporting others through the challenges of grief and healing.

As a Trustee for Talking About Loss and a former ambassador for Penny Brohn Cancer Care, Anna continues to use her expertise to inspire and support individuals navigating loss, offering a mindful and holistic approach to grief.
