Andrew Steel

Andrew retired from the Royal Navy after 13 years of service to work in the energy sector in Sri Lanka and subsequently the forestry industry in Thailand. Accredited with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Sydney Graduate School of Management, Andrew received awards for both e-commerce and management information systems. He was also the proud recipient of the Directors Award for all-round excellence in the MBA programme.

A highly driven and dedicated social entrepreneur who displays great vision and leadership qualities that have seen him establish and grow a commercial entity from 3 staff to two hundred managing forestry assets in excess of $150M, in parallel launching an award-winning charity that has planted close to 1 million trees in Asia. The charities work gaining Andrew an honorary doctorate from The University of Hull.

A former pupil of Andrew Marvell, Andrew has been described as An inspirational leader with the ability to build teams displaying a genuinely friendly manner who gains trust and respect from his peers and subordinates, a courageous and creative multi-skilled entrepreneur, with an eye for opportunities who is authentic, trusted and networked

Andrew still is very active with his environmental work joining the HEYwoods steering group and launching the One’ Hull’ of a Forest initiative to plant 200,000 trees in the city since his return to the area.
