Adam Walsh

Group CEO - John Good Group

Adam is the CEO of the John Good group, based in Hessle. Appointed in January 2022, Adam has been brought in by the Good family to run the group, with the challenge of re-shaping the business following the disposal of Good Logistics (one of its subsidiaries) in 2021.

Adam’s experience has been mainly in entrepreneurial SMEs, where he has typically held sales, marketing and leadership roles. Each of these companies has tended to have significant scale-up aspirations, where his skill set has helped to developed high performing growth cultures. Adam has managed business from Ireland to Asia, albeit most of his experience is in the UK. His most recent major milestone was the £140m disposal of the company he headed as MD, to a French PLC in 2019.

His passion for small businesses and growth has also seen him invest in and found businesses, all of which are currently trading and operating with their own management teams in place. He loves working with entrepreneurs and influencing plans to help remove the obstacles to business growth.

Today the John Good group has a diverse range of businesses in Shipping, Transport, Warehousing and Corporate Travel, as well as its philanthropic focus through the Matthew Good Foundation. Customers range from international conglomerates to local SMEs.

The challenge ahead for Adam and the group, is how it strengthens its positions in their existing marketplaces, combined with the ambition to diversify the group into a range of new services and business lines. The group is especially interested in the ESG space and supporting local business in the Humber region and this will be of specific focus as he moves the business forward.
