Celebrating Collaboration: The Business Day at Bridlington Spa

Date: 17 June 2025

Author: Angela Oldroyd, Board Director, FEO Hull

On Friday 6th June 2025, I had the pleasure of attending The Business Day at Bridlington Spa—a day that never fails to inspire and energise our business community here in East Yorkshire. The venue was buzzing with innovation, entrepreneurship, and, most importantly, collaboration.

As a Board Director of For Entrepreneurs Only (FEO), I was incredibly proud of the role we played as one of the main sponsors of the event. Our stand was more than just a visual highlight—it was the result of months of teamwork, creativity, and shared vision. The original concept came from our brilliant CEO, Jan Brumby, whose passion and foresight set everything in motion.

We worked hand-in-hand with some fantastic local partners: INIT Creative brought the design to life, Village Farm Marquees provided the structure, The Promotion Company handled the branding, and we had unwavering support from The Business Day team and Bridlington Spa throughout. It was a true team effort, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved together.

Of course, we weren’t the only ones bringing our best. Every sponsor showcased something special, and the stands across the venue reflected the same level of dedication and creativity. It was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together.

A huge credit must go to Stephen Parnaby OBE, Event Director of The Business Day, whose leadership and vision continue to elevate this event year after year. Alongside Mark Lonsdale, General Manager of Bridlington Spa, and his tireless team, they transformed the venue into a dynamic space where ideas flowed and connections were made.

This year’s keynote speakers added even more excitement to the day. Piers Morgan, renowned journalist and broadcaster, brought his trademark candour and insight to the stage, sparking thought-provoking conversations. We were also honoured to hear from Luke Campbell MBE, Olympic gold medallist and newly elected Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire, who shared his inspiring journey and vision for the region’s future.

One of the most exciting moments for FEO was the launch of our brand-new podcast series, designed to share real stories, insights, and advice from local entrepreneurs. These podcasts are another way we’re championing peer-to-peer learning and supporting the next generation of business leaders. It was fantastic to unveil this new initiative at such a high-profile event, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

And of course, no FEO stand would be complete without a little treat—our branded cupcakes were a huge hit! Not only did they look fantastic, but they also added a fun and memorable touch that brought plenty of smiles and conversations our way.

We were also proud to have our Chairman, Peter Aarison, represent FEO during the Sponsors’ breakout session. His wealth of business experience added real value to the discussion, reinforcing the importance of entrepreneurial leadership and collaboration in driving regional growth.

Our strapline for the day was “Best in Business,” and while it perfectly captures FEO’s ethos, it also summed up the spirit of the entire event. The Business Day didn’t just celebrate excellence—it embodied the very best of our business community.
