It’s been another challenging year for businesses, so we responded by inviting the perfect Keynote speaker to our AGM this November.
Members and Key Partners enjoyed a buffet lunch at the newly refurbished Circle Restaurant within the MKM Stadium after which the 2023/24 AGM focused on another successful year for FEO. Chairman Peter Aarosin reminded all in attendance about what sets FEO apart – selflessness, and thanked all members for giving peer support to those who need it most during challenging times. Peter also presented our final year end accounts.
During my presentation, I reflected on the events and programmes that we delivered in a packed 2023/24 Calendar, asking for suggestions for the future and acknowledging the fantastic support we receive from our Key Partners.
Finally, FEO Manager April Madden held an interactive E Q&A with Members, gaining invaluable feedback to help FEO to continuously improve.
Following the AGM, FEO Member Sally Wray introduced our Keynote Speaker Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards. Sally is a lifelong fan and a business owner, who like many relies on resilience and a positive attitude
As the first person to represent Great Britain in Ski Jumping since 1928, Eddie the Eagle became an overnight sensation during the Winter Olympics in 1988.
Although he came last in both the 70 and 90 metres, he became a worldwide phenomenon due to his positive attitude and the extraordinary story of how he reached the games.
Eddie entertained and inspired us in equal measure as she shared his Olympic adventure and some of his life experiences and wisdom.
"When I got to Calgary there were these signs up saying, 'Welcome to Calgary, Eddie the Eagle'. I said 'Who’s that?' And they said: 'That’s you!' And it went from there…”
“I'd like to say I flew like an eagle, but I was probably closer to the ostrich," he told one newspaper – He was even mentioned in the closing ceremony speech.
Thank you Eddie – we all agree that Resilience can go an awful long way!
