Creating the New Venture Pitching Competition

The pitching competition on Creating the new venture sponsored by FEO is an annual Dragon Den style inspired pitching competition for final year undergraduate students on Creating the New Venture Module on the BA Business management with entrepreneurship degree at Hull University Business School.

Student teams who have been working on setting up a new business or improving an existing business vie for a £250 prize which is awarded to the best investment pitch . Team pitches are assessed by a panel of entrepreneurs/ individuals involved in start-ups/ SMEs . Panel Judges score teams on two criteria: feasibility for the start-up to become a business/grow an existing business, and attractiveness of the investment proposition.

This year local entrepreneur judges Simon Hudson, Kiran Johnson and Dean Adamson and University of Hull Enterprise centre manager Mike Thompson declared Athena customs (led by Joseph Park) to be the winners, with E-Holo Led by Akash Kannan in second place and Pindula Fertilizers led by Francis Moto Junior in 3rd place.

Judges were impressed by the quality of the pitches. The module leader Dr Antonio C. Malfense Fierro senior lecturer in entrepreneurship at The University of Hull Business School said: ‘This year was another excellent pitching competition with a very deserving business winning first prize. The proposed student business were all very good and I can only thank FEO the prize sponsors, the judges and the students, in contributing to what is programme highlight on our Ba business management with entrepreneurship degree at Hull; University Business School’.
