Mark is the founder of Raven Hill, a brewery creating beers designed to be enjoyed at the end of a day of adventure. The beers are in retail and pubs throughout Yorkshire and served at events nationally. Mark is also director of a wind turbine business and pub (Old Star in Kilham) and owns a residential rental in London which he purchased and renovated.
After graduating from Leeds University (MSc, Chemistry) Mark joined a graduate program with multinational chemical company Syngenta, ultimately becoming an area manager.
Being naturally curious and wanted to explore the world, Mark then decided to travel for a year, firstly in South America, followed by volunteering for a NGO as project coordinator in charge of 3 groups delivering books to schools throughout Tanzania.
Following a successful trip, Mark decided to combine travel and a desire to learn about international business, taking a role with GrainCorp Malt ($1.15 billion revenue business), were he was the business analyst at the head office, directly reporting to the CEO.
Mark then took a role as export sales manager, northern Asia, for British fertiliser manufacturer. In this role he both maintained and built new country based distributor networks.
In 2018, following some interesting international malt consulting projects which he worked on across the globe, Mark founded Raven Hill Brewery and is currently developing and selling a range of adventure craft beers to a fast-growing customer base and supply chain. This, his most recent project has certainly been challenging, but has taught a great deal about how to create a unique drinks product and brand from scratch, in particular how to be resourceful and how to develop a brand based on authentic values that stay true to what you believe in.
