Bill Walker held senior positions in the publishing industry before moving to lead the University of Hull’s relationships with businesses. He was a journalist for 25 years, including ten years reporting the fortunes of his boyhood club Norwich City, and retains friends within the game. His last industry position was as Operations Director at the Hull Daily Mail where he led a major change programme that first brought him into contact with Paul Sewell. He is director of a range of University spin-out companies and was responsible for the creation of the Enterprise Centre, which is home to For Entrepreneurs Only.

He won prestigious business awards at regional, national and European level for his innovative work with schools, created one of the UK’s first business-based classrooms using industry-leading technologies and helped form a satellite TV channel promoting the creative work of young people. He helped establish the first business-education partnership in Buenos Aires.

He is involved in a range of business organisations on behalf of the University, including membership of the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership.
